Conformation showing is not a beauty contest, as some would think, but rather the competitive assessment of an individual dogs conformation the the Breed Standard - the blueprint, if you will, that defines what makes that breed different to any other.

Of my 3 dogs, Stan and Maya do not take part in these, but Lucie does and we both find it an enjoyable day out on a competitive and a social level; despite some initial uncertainty about the whole thing Lucie now quite enjoys showing off in the ring and always has a big smile on her face!

And I too, having initially been terrified, have actually found I quite enjoy handling and have had the opportunity to handle some lovely dogs.
