Son of our Alice - and half brother to our own Jess - Ryan is the result of an international affair following a trip to Norway where she had a romantic liaison with the ever so handsome Birk Av Rennfokk (bred by Gisle Uren and owned by Therese Øye).

We were super excited to have the opportunity to work with Kennel Rennfokk, whose Greenlands are well respected for their high work ethic (with dogs regularly competing in races and expeditions with great success), strong breed type / sound construction (Gisle's breeding boasting numerous Best of Breed & Speciality Show wins across multiple countries) and of course those all important, fabulous temperaments.

Although only shown lightly, Birk can still claim a number of Excellent Grades / 1st place awards in the show ring (including claiming a CK CERT towards his NOR CH title) and has proven very capable in harness, too, able to switch from working solo to slotting in with a family team without any issues and showing the typical, amiable temperament that his pedigree would suggest.

Alice of course has a detailed write up and list of achievements on her own page on this site but suffice to say we felt would prove a very complimentary match for Birk, also possessing  a strong working pedigree (her family all proven workers in Marit’s most competitive teams, earning Norwegian Trek Champion titles and with numerous racing accolades under their belt - including placing at prestigious races such as the Polardistans & Finnmarksløpet). She has proven to be a real dual purpose girl and a fabulous foundation for our kennel, possessing her Irish & Swiss Show Champion titles (as well as being pointed towards International, French, Netherlands & Belgium Champion awards) and holding multiple show accolades, with over 20 Championship Show Best Bitch awards across 6 different countries including Crufts Best Bitch 2020 & Best of Breed at the Championnat de France whilst attending the Paris EDS 2022 (where she also claimed the European Winner title).

Her offspring from her first litter - half siblings to Ryan - have made us super proud and between them can claim multiple breed records & firsts, including the current UK weightpull breed record holder for both overall percentage of bodyweight pulled & highest weight pulled by a female, the first Greenland Dog Show Certificate of Excellent title holder (whose Open Show accolades also include being the first & only Greenland to win a Reserve Best In Show at an all Breed Open Show & to hold multiple group wins), the first female / UK bred Greenland to place in a UK Championship Puppy Group - not to mention Crufts Best of Breed / Best Bitch /  Reserve Best Bitch winners, World & European Winner title holders as well as a rally & weightpull podium placers and breed seminar / KC Discover Dogs breed representatives.

Ryan was out and about from a young age, taking new events in his stride and already getting familiar with his extended family and other friends at shows, races, weightpulls and other events.

He had his first show experience at 4 months of age, travelling to Ireland to compete in Baby Puppy class where he came away with back to back Best Baby Puppy in Breed awards across the Celtic Winners weekend.

After turning 6 months, he hit the ground running here in the UK, quite literally going country to country as we travelled first to Wales for his first Open Show experience which saw him gain Best Puppy in Breed, and then North to Scotland for SKCs double Championship Show where he not only gained two class wins and two Best Puppy Dogs - qualifying him for Crufts 2025 - but also gained Best Puppy in Breed and his first Reserve Best Dog card behind kennelmate Noah.

His show ring success has continued, including multiple Open Show puppy group placings, Best Puppy & Reserve Best of Breed awards, and while we know he is a slow maturing male we are delighted with how happilly he has taken to being in the ring.

His success in the show ring as a yungster earned him Top Puppy in Breed 2024 in both the Our Dogs & GDCGB annual competitions.

With him being a slow maturing boy we have taken his outings in harness steady, but he has already shown great promise in novice class at weightpull, as well as enjoying short stints on the rig with our older Malamute, Harry, who is helping show him the ropes at a steadier pace.

In December 2024, Ryan got to team up with our own Noah and friend's female greenland Strike to run as a 3 dog team at Wydean Mushing East's annual New Years rally, where I was delighted they came away with 2nd place, even with some directional challenges on Day 1.

As a puppy he enjoyed his first breed representative experience by covering the Discover Dogs booth with his Mum Alice & Sister Elska at Crufts. It was fair to say he very much enjoyed meeting the general public and showing them the happy, tactile nature of this special breed.

With such a strong family tree, it can be understood why we have such high hopes for Ryan (and his littermates)! He is proving to be a super playful boy - who particularly enjoys rough and tumbling with our youngster Jack and Mum Alice, as well as annoying his "uncle" Harry and big sister Jess. We cannot wait to see what the future brings!
