DECEMBER 2014

Round 4 of the Allerton Weightpull Championship today and all day dogs and humans endure endless rain and wind. The conditions aren't in Lucie's favour and her final weight pulled is 1200lb (18.75x her bodyweight).
Harry is on good form and pulls an equal PB of 1600lb, which at over 23x his bodyweight earns him a 2nd WWPDA leg at only his 4th competitive pull (had he been one place higher in his class it would have been a WWPDX leg)! But more significant today, he closes his very first AMCA Working title, and subject to confirmation can now be written as "Viking Fenrir Kin Of Kiyara's Wolf Pak WWPD" - am very proud!

07/12

At Lincoln CS Open Show today we are competing in AVNSC Working under judge Billy Henderson (Tuwos) where both Harry & Lucie are placed Reserve in their respective Post Graduate & Open classes against nice competition.

Round 3 of the Allerton Weightpull Championship today. Lucie isn't at her best, missing her 1400lb pull to make her final weight pulled 1200lb (18.75x her bodyweight).
Harry however works very hard and manages 1600lb, over 23x his bodyweight, to come 4th of 17 in his class and earn not only his third WWPD leg but also his first WWPDA / WWPDX leg - very proud of my young man!

I make the decision to withdraw him from competition after this point, feeling he has worked hard enough for his first attempt - we are looking forward to Round 2!

APRIL 2014

27/04

Today it's back to Allerton where Lucie heads out for a run with her friend Falco - Falco Huk Amarok For Nordicwinds WWPD - owned by Jonathon & Janine Horsman-Phoenix. They complete around 12 miles together and come back muddy but happy, earning them both an AMCA WTD leg. I am proud to say that this leg closes my young ladies AMCA WTD title, giving her the formal name of Windberg Paparazzi To Fenrirkin WPD WTD* WWPD WWPDA WWPDX (*Subject to AMCA Approval). Big thank you to Jonathon for running them.

26/04

Today was the last Allerton Weightpull of the season and despite intermittent rain many dogs were on fine form; Harry looks to be ready for competition next season, pulling his 1000lb in novice class with no issues, and Lucie does me proud with a pull of 1800lb, over 28x her bodyweight (a new Personal Best) and despite missing a pull at the start of the season only just misses out on a trophy in the end of season presentation, coming 4th in the 61-80lb class for the overall Championship against 32 qualifying dogs.
To round the day off we got to enjoy a yummy BBQ afterwards too - a most enjoyable day, and big thank yous to Myra & Keith Butler, and Andy Scott & Jackie Wheatley for their hard work organising these events!

20/04

Today is a very special day, as we get to say a Happy 4th Birthday to my very special girl Lucie.
So how did we choose to celebrate her birthday? With 24 miles of backpacking and circa 2000 feet of elevation in the beautiful Lake District scenery, camping with a group of friends and earning her first leg towards her WPDA title. Carrying 30% of her bodyweight and with warm weather in the equation, I am very proud of her hard work and safe to say she slept well! Thank you to Ian Elliot and Aimee Campbell for organising and leading the way, and to all who snapped some photos for the below album:

13/04

Today was the announcement of the 2013 Malamute Of the Year Awards (MOYA) winners, and some good results for my small showteam.

Congratulations to all who placed so well, but extra familial well dones to Lucie's Dad Bullit - BIS / BISS / BVISS UK CH Snowolf Canuck Bullit ShCM - and his proud owner / breeder Sharon on Best Overall Veteran, 5th Top Dog, 11th Top Malamute and 6th Top Stud Dog - clever boy!

06/04

Today is Round 8 and the final pull of the Allerton Championship, and penultimate competitive weightpull of the season.
Harry sticks to novice class where I am pleased that he pulls 1000lb with ease and really seems to be understanding what he needs to do.
Lucie, at 63lb is today the lightest dog competing in the 61-80lb class where she pulls 1600lb, and with it a new percentage PB of 25.4 x her bodyweight, coming 9th in an entry of 21 dogs.

MARCH 2014

15/03

Round 7 of the Allerton Championship weightpull is a dry and breezy day, making for nice pulling conditions.
Harry sticks to novice class where his technique is continuing to improve.
Lucie is in the 61-80lb class where she pulls a respectable 1600lb (24.62 x her bodyweight) to come 6th out of an entry of 15 dogs.

06/03

Today was the prestigious Crufts Championship Show, where around 200 Malamutes are exhibiting under breed specialist judge Kath Howarth (Hawkam).

I am incredibly proud of Lucie who takes Reserve in a strong Limit Bitch class of 25 entries (9 Abs). Harry is unplaced in a 10 strong Special Puppy Dog class but is a good boy and enjoys his day out.
Well done to everybody competing.

04/03

A very big happy birthday to our Happy Harry - Viking Fenrir Kin Of Kiyara's Wolf Pak - and all his Cash x Kim littermates from the V Litter. One whole year old already!

Mr Smiley Harry crawling across the sofa :)

01/03

A good start to March at Ashton & Makerfield CS Open Show where Lucie takes 1st Open & Best Of Breed, and Harry takes 1st Junior & Best Puppy in Breed under substitute judge Elias Vorrias (Chalksville). Not a show judged on the group system, so decided to skip BIS / BPIS in judging, but am pleased to report Harry also took 4th in the Puppy Stakes, and Lucie 3rd in the Open Stakes under Judge John Finney (Sanguliano), winning me a bit of lunch money. Not a bad days work.

FEBRUARY 2014

22/02

What an enjoyable day at Allerton with good weather, good comapny and tough competition!
Lucie pulls 1500lb (over 22x her bodyweight) to come 8th in a 22 strong 61-80lb class. For the first time I let Harry pull to the maximum Novice Class weight of 1000lb, which he completes with no treats, just vocal commands; still a lot of bouncing in his technique but he's definitely getting there!

16/02

It is a bit of de ja vu with the class placings at Spennymoor & District CS Open Show today, where under Judge Kim Porritt (Blizzardrun) Lucie takes 2nd Open Dog or Bitch behind the BOB Winner and Harry takes 2nd in Post Graduate Dog or Bitch. He then goes on to take Best Puppy in Breed, and Working Puppy Group 4 in a group of 8 lovely puppies under Group Judge Les Strudwick (Kumamatata).

25/01

Harry and I take a solo trip to The Northern Dog Club Open Show today where under judge Sylvia Monaghan (Nostradamos) he wins 1st Graduate Dog of Bitch, Best of Breed, Best Puppy in Breed and most excitingly, Working Group 4 in a lovely group of 9 BOB Winners. Very pleased with my young man!

19/01

In stark contrast to the grooming of yesterdays show, it is mud and rain at the Allerton Weight Pull today, making for slippery pulling conditions.

Lucie is in the 61-80lb class and struggles to get traction, ultimately pulling 1400lb (over 21x her bodyweight) to get 5th in her class.

Harry has a fab time in novice class and tries pulling without the lead for the first time with great success. Well worth getting rained on!

18/01

A great start to the year at Manchester Championship Show where under judge Richard Kinsey (Kitarn) Harry takes 2nd Puppy Dog and Lucie takes VHC in a nice Limit Bitch class (13 Entries, 1 Absent).
