2026

APRIL

05/04

Our Easter Sunday was spent weightpulling - and what a fantastic day it was with circa 20 dogs entered and a fabulous mix of Sibes, CEDs, Malamutes & (of course) Greenlands across the classes.

Special call out has to go to Noah, who ended the day with an awesome pull of 2300lb / 22.77x his bodyweight!
Not only is this a new Personal Best for him but this result also gives him the boasts of…
** New UK Breed Record for Highest Weight Pulled **
(beating his own previous record of 2,200lb achieved in 2025)
** New UK Breed Record for Highest Times Bodyweight Pulled by a Male **
(beating the record held since 2018 by our own Dylan of 20.25x bodyweight)
He even got the 2400lb pulled all but half a foot from the finish before he ran out of steam, conceding to 2nd place in the 101lb+ class behind Malamute Tyler who claime HWP. Couldn’t be more proud of the lad!

Also getting a special shout out is Elska (Fenrirkin Out Of The Black, Dylan x Alice) who - pulled by owner Kurts - made me a very proud breeder by not only winning the 41-60lb class with a pull of 1400lb / 25x her bodyweight (an equal PB) but also claiming Highest Weight pulled by Opposite Sex on the day – what a good girl!

Onto the rest of the Team’s results:

Dylan – 1st 61-80lb with a pull of 1500lb / 19.23x bodyweight
With my resident black dog now in double figures we didn’t come into the season aiming to be hyper competitive - he often views it as more of a social opportunity anyway! - but contrary as always he gave me a wonderful surprise with his efforts

Ryan – 2nd 61-80lb class with a pull of 1300lb / 17.11x bodyweight
Considering Ryan’s previous PB in competition was 700lb, I cannot express how over the moon I am with my special floppy dog! He is still ditzy as hell and hard work to get focused but his brain does seem to be connecting the dots slowly but surely

Alice – 3rd 41-60lb class with a pull of 1300lb / 24.53x bodyweight
While her pull was absolutely respectable it was a little bit frustrating that she was in particularly good spirits and decided to run back to the chute handler twice in a row on her 1400lb pull before happily making the pull unassisted once declared as eliminated from competition for tangling - but she had fun which is the most important thing!

Jack – Novice class, with a final pull of 1000lb / 14.29x bodyweight
Jack hasn’t quite got the memo that this is a steadier discipline versus running in a team and has a tendency to be a bit too frantic unless I am directly in front of him to set the pace - so will be staying in novice until he learns not to run into the harness - but he still made really good progress, making it to the highest maximum weight permitted for a novice dog with no assistance from the chute handler and only vocal commands from myself.

03/04

A relatively local day out at Edwinstowe & DCS Premier Open Show in support of our breed classes.

Under judge Richard Hollifield, Noah claims 1st Open & Best of Breed (also squeezing in a Reserve in AV Working Veteran) while Jack concedes to 2nd & Reserve Best of Breed. Good boys!

MARCH

22/03

A boys day out for Noah & Jack at Herts & Essex Border CS Premier Open Show, and what a fabulous day they had!

In breed judging, Jack comes out on top with 1st Open & Best of Breed under judge Dr Jeni Giambona! Not done there not only did he make it to the final 6 from a large Working Group but then went on to claim Working Group 3 under judge Gordon Booth - absolutely thrilled!

Noah also had a lovely day out, not only claiming 2nd & Reserve Best of Breed behind Jack in breed judging, but also competing in AV Working Veteran under our group judge where he won Best Veteran in Working group and the privilege of competing for Best Veteran In Show - good lad!

07/03

Back to the NEC, this time for one of our favourite parts of Crufts - Discover Dogs! Today it was the turn of Alice & Jack, but we were proud to have three other Fenrirkin Dogs - Nuuka, Kulu & Winter - representing the stand on Thursday while we were in the show ring. The dogs never fail to make me proud with how well they adapt to such a busy, hectic environment and the smiles they bring to people of all shapes & sizes!

05/03

It wouldn't be March without mentioning Crufts and this year was an extra special one, with our dogs having the privilege to be competing under a Greenland Dog breed specialist judge, Nicola Singh (Sledog).
Our show team was slightly reduced on the day due to both Jess (MULTI CH Fenrirkin Can’t Be Late ShCEx) & Elska (Fenrirkin Out Of The Black) deciding to be seasonal around the same time – which of course was disappointing – however their mother decided to make up for their absence in style!

1st Veteran Bitch, Best Bitch, Best of Breed & Best Veteran in Breed – Alice!!

1st Open Dog, Best Dog & Best Opposite Sex – Jack

1st Veteran Dog & Reserve Best Dog – Noah!

Absolutely over the moon with these results – not least for Alice & Noah's breeder Marit Ånes and of course Jack's breeders at Kennel Nipnatten! – and ever so grateful to our judge for their decisions!

04/03

A special day as we wish a big happy birthday to our last remaining Malamute, Harry, who has reached 13 years of age! Still a happy boy who enjoys life at his own pace nowadays although still has plenty of energy to complain about slow service at feeding time or the frustration of not being allowed access to the chicken's enclosure - and long may it continue!

FEBRUARY

28/02

It was another boys day out at North & South Shields CS Premier Open Show. Ryan got a rare show ring outing, placed 2nd in Graduate under breed judge Racheal Bailey.
Noah didn't compete in the breed classes however had a fantastic day all the same, competing in AV Working Veteran under judge Roger Perkins where he won Best Veteran in Working group and had the pleasure of competing for Best Veteran In Show!

21/02

A quick local outing to Newark & DCS Open Show with Jack, who under judge Jackie Tune (Rottalma) places 3rd in AVNSC Open behind two nice Champions (1st the group winning Giant Schanuzer & 2nd the Champ Stakes winning Portugese Water Dog) - good lad!

15/02

Second round of the weihgtpull championship today - and it certainly was a wet one! - but despite challenging pulling conditions the dogs did us proud.

Alice - 1st 41-60lb class and highest percentage of bodyweight pulled with a final weight of 1200lb / 21x her bodyweight (she did get the 1300lb a majority of the way before getting distracted and running out of time)

Dylan - 1st 61-80lb class! A lovely surprise for our 10 year old who had just come out to make up the numbers :)

Ryan - 2nd 61-80lb class! Another fab surprise as had been debating keeping him in novice - he still takes a bit of time to focus on the task at hand but a massive improvement on his last attempt!

Noah - 1st 81-100lb class! Jess being in season at home scuppered us slightly with him losing 2lb versus the last competition and dropping down a class - and I figured he would probably be a bit shattered / distracted to do anything too exciting - but still ended on a good pull of 1700lb.

Jack - back in novice as he seemed a bit unsure about things on his first pull, but he did end up pulling 900lb completely unassisted and without any bait so a successful venture all in all - just a bit more time needed to build his confidence in pulling with me stood the full 16 foot away.

14/02

Another open show outing for the boys, this time to National Working & Pastoral Breeds Society's Premier Open Show. Under judge Adrian Bicknell, Noah wins 1st Open & Best of Breed with Jack placing 2nd in the same class and taking Reserve Best of Breed.

07/02

A more local outing at Isle of Ely CS Premier Open Show today with two of our boys representing our kennel. Winning 1st Open & Best of Breed under judge Heather Snelson was Noah, with Jack claiming 2nd & Reserve Best of Breed. Noah also went into a good sixed AV Working Veteran class where he came awy with Reserve. Good lad!

JANUARY

25/01

An exciting day for may of here in the UK, as after almost a year passing since we lost our previous Lincolnshire venue were at long last able to enjoy the first AMCUK-CEDCGB weightpull competition of the 2025-26 season.

And it was all change, not just due to our new Leicestershire venue for us all (which with the previous pulls being undercover gave a lot of new variables for dogs in terms of different distractions, the surface being exposed to the typically British drizzly weather etc) but also a bit of a different team this year with Harry now retired - my first time ever not having a Malamute in the team  - and Dylan also on the bench but on the flip of that our two youngest Greenlands boys now old enough to compete.

Onto the results!

Noah – 1st 101lb+ class & Highest Weight Pulled!!
Absolutely chuffed with my Norwegian powerhouse's return to competition, with 3 super strong Malamutes in his class to keep him on his toes and a final pull of 1700lb (16.8x his bodyweight). Good lad!

Alice – 1st 41-60lb class
The biggest class of the day with a mix of CED, Sibe & Greenland competitors where she came away with a final pull of 1200lb (20.7x her bodyweight). She did of course do her usual tangling herself out of competition on the next pull by running back behind the trolley to say hi but more than happy with her effort on the day!

Jack – 1st 61-80lb class
My total surprise result of the day with Jack having had just one try in novice at the end of last season, it was a bit of a whim even chucking him into competition. The aim of the day was positive experiences, so he pulled 600lb (8.7x his bodyweight) before I decided to withdraw him from further competition and move him into novice to work on his technique and confidence a bit more – but a very promising start!

Ryan – 3rd 61-80lb class.
Like Jack, Ryan was put in competition on a whim and ultimately he only pulled 400lb (5.2x his bodyweight) in competition before I decided his focus needed a bit more honing and moved him into novice. Still happy with his first time out and when his brain clicks into gear he shows good form – but yes, definitely more practice needed!

Jess – novice class

Standard practice here but the Ginger one did actually put some effort in pulling for me when I stayed close enough (which is more than she has done previously!) and we had fun

Elska - 4th 41lb - 60lb class [?]
Not to forget my Dylan x Alice daughter resident elsewhere who was on fine form for owner Kurts Reders but got caught out with skipping weights so ended on a pull of 1000lb (16.7x her bodyweight).

24/01

After our plans earlier in the year got waylaid by kennel cough and other work commitments, today we made it to Redditch & District Canine Society Open Show, which is always a calendar favourite for it’s rare breed support. They are also kind enough to offer us split gender open classes, which meant I could divide my entry of four into two lots of two which really does make supporting with multiple dogs that little bit less hectic.

Coming out on top under sled dog specialist judge Heather Snelson was 19 month old Jack, who won 1st Open Dog over Noah (who was happy to play the fool and place 2nd) alongside Best of Breed - good boy.

In Open Bitch is was Jess who took the class win (Alice placing 2nd to her daughter) along with Reserve Best of Breed in the challenge - good girl.

Noah sadly missed his AV Working Veteran class while I was handling in the breed ring however  Alice did make it into her AV Rare Breed Veteran class with friend Stacy at the end of the lead where she placed Reserve too - so an all round not too bad day!

01/01

We start the year as often do by celebrating our standings in the Our Dogs annual competitions with two of our resident Norwegian's coming out on top!

Top Dog - Noah (Multi CH Suna-Sanik's Electric Noah of Fenrirkin ShCEx)

Top Puppy - Jack (BEL CH Nipnattens Strong Avaalaqiakulooq Fenrirkin MULTI JUN-CH)

And with thanks to Noah & Alice's successes throughout the year, we were super proud to see Top Breeder awarded to Suna-Sanik Kennel (Marit Anes) as well as Top Stud Dog & Top Brood Bitch being awarded to Noah's parents Balder & Suki - huge congratulations to our extended canine family on these successes!
